IoT using Raspberry Pi Description – Problem Statement


As part of the challenge, the participants have to build a simple Android App to use their IoT Device to control a fan (or any electric device), which is connected to the IoT device, remotely.
The IoT system should satisfy the following criteria:

  • The IoT System should be driven solely and completely by Raspberry Pi
  • The IoT System should record the temperature of the room it is installed in
  • The IoT System should send regular updates about temperature to a remote phone over internet
  • The system should also be connected to a fan (or any other electric device) that can be controlled remotely through a basic Mobile App (readily available/built by you)
  • With a single button, the fan (or any electric device) connected to the Raspberry Pi should switch on/off whenever the room temperature is higher/lower than any pre-determined threshold temperature, respectively
  • The app should use the Internet to control the electric devices
  • The final project should be operable from any place with access to internet

Video Submission Criteria

  • The video should have clear demonstration of the project
  • The video should have the participant clearly visible in addition to the project
  • The video should explain the project development in phases (ex: Flowchart)

Kit to be used

  • You should use only Raspberry Pi as the Microcontroller/Embedded System core for the project.
